Entered Starfleet Accademy in 2317, choosing science as field of study. Graduated top 75 of class, assigned to USS Firebird as a science officer in 2321.

In 2325, was promoted to Lt J.G. and assigned to Starbase 820 to assist in study of local black hole and other nearby nebulas.

In 2326, was re-assigned to the Federation Embassy on Starbase 820. Was promoted to Lt. in 2327.

In 2329, he decided to resign his commission and pursue a diplomatic career. Stayed on at the Federation Embassy on Starbase 820 as a diplomatic attache, learning under Ambassador Gregory Maddox, the station's lead ambassador.

In 2331, he led a diplomatic envoy to the Prearis system and sucessfully negotiated rights for a Federation trade route to go through the system. This subsequently led to the Prearis to join the Federation in 2333.
