Achieved good marks during primary and secondary schooling, but never considered college. Since enlisting in the Army he had completed courses such as Infantry School, Airborne School and a number of professional development courses.

Career History:
Born is Cheyenne, Wyoming, on October 31, 1978. Lived an average middle class life, during which he excelled as sports such a football and basketball, and discovered his love for the outdoors that lead to him joining the Boy Scouts of America, during which time he earned the coveted Eagle Scout Award.

Due to his attainment of the Eagle Scout Award during his time spent with the Boy Scouts, Dean was eligible for advanced enlistment at the E-3 pay grade as a Private First Class (PFC). He attended the nine week long United States Army Basic Training, Fort Benning, Georgia, where he got his first real taste of what it meant to belong to the military. Years of high school foot ball had prepared him physically for the challenges he faced

during basic, and the strict, disciplined and regiment life of a soldier was soon drilled into him. Assigned to Third Platoon, Dean's first week of basic was spent learning the 'Army Core Values' and familiarizing himself with the feel of the M16 rifle. Week two taught him hand-to-hand combat, and when faces with navigation and first aid scenario's, his Eagle Scout training allowed him to shine. In the third week, the final week of Phase I, he was instructed in bayonet skills, had his first exposure to tear gas, and was presented with a field issue M16A2 rifle.

Phase II of basic consisted of two weeks of intensive training, during which Dean was drilled in marksmanship and the use of grenades, both handheld and launcher deployed varieties. Phase III saw his training company moving out into the barracks and into the field for a number of exercises against 'rival' companies. During these final two weeks, Dean proved himself as a capable soldier and a fine leader, and completed basic in the top percentile of his class.

From there Dean moved on the seven week United States Army Infantry School, itself situated on the grounds of Fort Benning. During this Advanced Individual Training phase, Dean was transformed from a civilians into a field warrior, building on the basic infantry skills taught at basic training, and furthering his skills at marksmanship, machine gunnery, tactics, and planning. Upon complete of AIT, he was formally a member of the US Army.

His first field assignment was with the 3rd Infantry Division as a rifleman, where he was part of a four person fire team. During the following year he was promoted to Specialist (E-4), and later laterally promoted to Corporal (E-4), where his new NCO status allowed him to command his own fire team. By 1999 he was promoted to Sergeant (E-5), and continued his work as a fire team leader. During his year he was deployed to the Albania/Kosovo border in support of Operation Allied Force, NATO's bombing campaign against Serbian forces in the Former Yugoslav Republic.

In 2000 he transferred to the 10th Mountain Division and served as a fire team leader, and was promoted the following year to Staff Sergeant (E-6). With his new promotion came new responsibilities - he was appointed as the leader of Apache Squad, and was in charge of the two four men fire teams who served under him. Following the September 11 attacks in 2001, Dean was deployed to the middle east as part of the American response to the attacks.

Dean was granted a transfer to the 82nd Airborne Division in 2002 as a squad leader, during which time he briefly returned from the Middle East to complete the US Army's Airborne School. Now jump qualified, he returned to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2003 he was promoted to Sergeant First Class (E-7) as assigned as the platoon SNCO to 3rd Platoon. During his time, the 82nd pushed into Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The platoon's CO, a 'green' Lieutenant practically straight out of OIC, often turned to the much more experienced Dean for guidance and suggestions, or when difficult tasks needed doing.

Later that year he made his latest transfer, to the 101st Airborne Division, where he served as the platoon NCO for 8th Platoon. He remained in Iraq until 2004, when the 101st was recalled the States for a rest and refit. During this time the 101st underwent the Army's modular transformation, the existing infantry brigades, artillery brigade, and aviation brigades were transformed, and the 4th Brigade Combat Team was activated. The reconfiguration of 101st formed seven major units in the division (four infantry BCTs, two combat aviation brigades (CABs), and one sustainment brigade), making it the largest formation currently in the U.S. Army.

In the summer of 2005, the 101st returned to Iraq. Dean however, had been contacted by Air Force recruiting personnel from Stargate Command, and after his induction training, was assigned to SG-25, the SGC's Army Combat Unit. He carried out a number of high risk off-world operations with SG-25, until his recent assignment to the Neverland Expedition.
